Indigo bush

Indigo bush (Psorothamnus schottii) has small thin leaves to conserve moisture. Like the palo verde and ironwood trees, also in the pea family, the indigo bush will drop its leaves in dry times. Then the white bark and spines give it a dead, skeletal look. In wet springs, the deep blue flowers provide nectar for migrating butterflies.
